Abdul is a devout Muslim and father of three children, two of whom are seen in the photos with him. His wife is of Portuguese extraction hence their mixed race aesthetics.
We discuss his criminal lifestyle and involvement with street gangs, culminating in him being attacked by a rival Somalian gang at the Notting Hill Carnival resulting in an arrest for affray and assault. It was this "rock bottom" after a year of reflection whilst awaiting bail that Abdul vowed to make a change. His chance came after narrowly escaping a custodial sentence that he turned his life around subsequently becoming a better Muslim and human being by channelling his experiences into his career by reinventing himself as an online comedian building an impressive online following.
Abdul's younger brother Ali is a very different character to his brother. Very much the golden boy, Ali has always been a devote Muslim and Abdul proudly States that he kept Ali away from "doing road" (slang for living a criminal lifestyle). Like Abdul, Ali married his wife at 18. She is also coincidentally a Portuguese Muslim convert and they had their first baby last year. Until this point Ali had been playing football for Brentford youth team and had realistic dreams of playing top flight football.
This however all changed when Ali's wife decided to make a YouTube channel and a first video called "Marriage at 19: the Truth". The video instantly touched a chord with young Muslims throughout the world and rapidly went viral. The channel has since racked up 270,000 followers and Ali is one of the most prominent Muslim youth spokespersons in the UK.
He is now pursuing his YouTube career full-time.
Blessed with the looks and height of a body builder Rob is an impressive man and despite a notorious past, is one kindest, well mannered men you could wish to meet!
Rob's past, riddled with petty crime and loose gang affiliations, was a familiar story on these council estates where a future of heading rapidly towards a life behind bars is an all to common theme.
When Rob had his first child, Tiana, he vowed never to do anything which could ever keep them apart. He turned to his love of music and the hip hop culture he had grown up with and became a DJ. With years of hard work and dedication to UK hip hop, he has managed to attain a slot on the number one UK radio station Pulse FM and is an increasingly influential figure player on the UK rap scene.
Imad is of Iraqi descent, the son of parents who fled the Saddam Hussein regime. He was a very different youth to the Zen Tai Chi Master we see in the film in which we follow Imad's life of petty crime and drug-dealing leading to a spell in jail in his early twenties.
Breaking the habit of everything he knew was to become his biggest challenge resulting in his life of crime spiralling out of control until ten years ago his friends in desperation staged an intervention convincing him to leave the UK and head for China.
After an gruelling three year stay in a Shaolin Kung Fu Temple, he returned to London as a Tai Chi and Kung Fu Master and now runs a very successful Tai Chi Training Academy. It was these teachings which was to be his biggest discipline, which he applied to his new life.
Imad, the only father-to-be in this story, is pictured with his Polish wife Justyna who is seven months pregnant. Imad lost his father last year and plans to name his son Tarek in his father's honour.
Darren resides in Romford Essex where his reputation hasn't always been that favourable. He started out as a thug and small-time drug dealer resulting in him spending most of his teens and twenties in and out of jail for drugs and violent alcohol-related offences.
This vacuous circle continued until he decided to quit the UK and head to Marbella. Whilst In Marbella he found himself working for some expat cockneys as a debt collector. This underworld resulted in more violence to the point he got in too deep got into an altercation in a club with the son of a prominent Liverpudlian gangster, who was hit in the face with a champagne bottle and nearly lost an eye! Darren realised his mortality after being badly beaten up before leaving Spain to the point he narrowly escaped death.
After this traumatic experience Darren moved back to the UK and retrained as a carpenter. He now lives with his wife and baby daughter Layla.
Chris is another UK rap legend and the owner of an infamous ghetto studio called The Batcave, depicted in the image. The Batcave is a renovated shed attached to his mother's flat on the West Kensington Estate.
Chris and his friends built the studio from scratch and is decorated with autographs of some of the most successful artists renowned on the urban scene and using his own roster of producers signed to his independent label "No Dayz Off", vowing to dedicate himself to his career in music and being a good father to his two sons Jayden and Kai.
Dardan was born in Albania but came with his family to the UK via Greece and Italy in the 90's following the unrest in his native Balkans.
A fascinating but terrifying man he is a prominent-ember of a notorious Albanian driller gang. Dardan "bad choices" has resulting in him doing time on numerous occasions and has even been shot twice by rival gangs.
We photographed Dardan with his seven months old daughter Elena. Despite his former lifestyle Dardan claims he is more dedicated to his daughter more anything else and wants to be the best version of himself for her to admire and be proud of.
